How to Root Xiaomi Redmi 1S (Stock ROM - MIUI V5)

What is Rooting?

Rooting is nothing but, granting Administrator privillages to the device (you). After rooting , you can be able to install custom recoveries, roms..etc. In my view , Rooting is making the phone completely yours with terrific features by installing various root apps such as Xposed Framework..etc.

How to know whether my Device is Rooted or not?

An app named "Root Checker" is available in Play Store to check whether your device is rooted or not. Install that and grant Super SU permission when asked. It'll say whether your device is properly rooted or not.
